motorway tuition, roof sign or not?

When doing a motorway lesson with a driver who only recently passed thier test, would you need or use a rooftop sign.

Although they hold a full licence they are still recieving tuition, so am not sure of the legalities. just thought i would double check first.

it wasn't me, i can buy a witness.

Re: motorway tuition, roof sign or not?

Hi Russ ... legally you don't need to display a roof box during motorway tuition with a qualified driver; having said that some instructors do.

My personal thoughts are that to display a roof sign, your likely to get drivers acting strangly thinking that perhaps you have a learner driver ... lots of instructors use a magnetic stip on the back of their vehicles with 'Driver Under Instruction' which provides what you want - to let people know that although you have a qualified driver in the driving seat, they are actually 'still under instruction'

Hope this helps
